Mothers¡¯ Depression, Parenting Stress, and Attachment with Their Preschool Children
Jang Young-Ae

Abstract
This study investigated the effects of mothers¡¯ depression and parenting stress on their attachment with their preschool children. The subjects were 110 mothers with children between 3 and 6 years old. Findings suggested, in part, that mother¡¯s education and career, along with family income and caring time with her child, were statistically significant predictors of parenting stress and attachment; mother¡¯s depression and parenting stress were negatively correlated with mother-preschooler attachment; and parent-child attachment explained parenting stress more than mother¡¯s depression. The authors drew conclusions about the best ways parents can support their children¡¯s preschool adjustment.
